Brittney is Responding
The day before yesterday, the doctors took Brittney off her sedation medicine to wake her up for a couple of hours to see how she would respond. With mom and dad by her side, she opened her eyes and cried. She responded very well to them and to physical therapy. After two hours of being awake, the doctors sedated her again so her body could rest. After about two hours of sedation, Deacon Stoves visited Brittney's bedside and while he prayed she opened her eyes. What a blessing!
She is not heavily sedated as she was before, so she will open her eyes and blink or frown her face in response to what's going on around her. When mom mentioned her dance ministry when all of this is over, and how anointed Brittney is... and how God is going to use her to tell her story and heal others, tears rolled down her face.
We are pleased to report that Brittney's PEEP Respiratory Number was down to 8 last night. Originally doctors wanted her to reach 10 before taking her off the ventilator. However, they want to make sure her lungs are good and healthy before they remove the machine. With the PEEP at 8, it means that Brittney is breathing more times on her own than the machine is breathing for her.
The doctors constantly remind us that Brittney is still very sick. We are rejoicing in God that she is improving each day. As of now, Brittney has not needed dialysis, which was a BIG concern for a moment. Keep praying that the source of the fever goes away and her lungs, kidneys & organs in general remain strong and unharmed.
Thank you for your continued prayers. We know that many of you are fasting and praying on behalf of Brittney and our family and for that we are ever so grateful. May God grant you your sincerest heart desires for the sacrifice of love you're showing to Brittney and our family.
